We are selling chicks and feed by appointment only
We are a family of 5 living on the outskirts on Wake Forest, NC. Dan (Dad) is The Director of Marketing for a Real Estate Company, Ann (mom) moved here from Denmark in 1998, she grew up on a farm in Denmark with dogs, horses and a couple of chickens. After we had kids our middle daughter Emily wanted chickens for her 9th birthday and she got 7 chicks for fun and for fresh backyard eggs. Our sons Joseph and Joshua helped a little as they grew into adult chickens. Emily would do her reading homework with the chicks and to this day, her original chicken, she has 1 left, will come running to her if she is heard outside. Read more.
Hopefully 2022 will bring many more people more joy, more happiness and more security. One of my best friends always says: "It's the little things..." and its true.
A friendship that has been in the works since mid 2020 finally bore fruit, or MUGS!!
I finally have the coolest CHICKEN MUGS, handmade by a local NC artist.
I have had one of his mugs for years and absolutely LOVE it. So when I finally found him it was a match made in Chicken Heaven. They come in really cool colors and are $30 a mug.
Hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will be able to add shirts and hats to the "Gift Collection"

A great friend of mine, amazing mom and all around super woman has her own small business https://www.stuartavedesigns.com , like me, and we have talked about chicken towels for years and now she has made me some. They are so fun and will put a smile on any chicken lovers face.
They come in different designs and are $17 a towel.
Still working on shirts and hats for the "Gift Collection"
Going on weekend trips can still be very beneficial for the business. On a resent trip to Clayton, Georgia I found the most adorable chicken earrings and yet another chicken friendship was made. Sydni makes a lot of different earrings so if you are looking for unique earrings check her out at www.sydnicarlsonart.com.
The chicken earrings all come in different colors and are $25 per pair.
We offer our own brand of feed specifically designed for the backyard flock. Little Birdie Hatchery has partnered with Mule City Specialty Feeds to create a Layer Ration and Chick Starter for the backyard flock. Please see the "Our Feed" page for a description.
We are now a NPIP certified hatchery. We are also licensed by the state of North Carolina as a hatchery, chick dealer and adult poultry re-seller. These permits allow us to legally sell our chicks and adult birds to consumers.
A note about bio-security: We take Bio-Security very seriously and are regularly tested through the Department of Agriculture as participants of the NPIP program. We are certified AI clean. The last thing we want to do is send you home with chicks that are carrying a disease. Unlike a farm supply store, our brooders are not open to the general public. If you already have chickens, then we cannot let you into our coop. We also ask that you not handle any of the chicks until you have made the decision to purchase them. Regardless of the security measures we take, we still recommend that if you are adding new birds to an existing flock to observe a quarantine period of 4 to 7 days. This gives the majority of infections time to incubate and manifest symptoms before they have a chance to expose your flock.
Due to Covid-19, virtual school, Chick Season and the bird flu our hours kept changing, so as of right now we are open by appointment only. You can make an appointment from the website under the appointments tab.
Please call or text us at 919-909-7155 if you have any questions or concerns
We love our customers, so feel free to make an appointment and come visit.
